i made a flyer for my 3rd multigenre and i believe it was pretty nice. How ever my current status on my ARP is still in progress. i am still writing my actual results page. i have found it interesting that my hypothosis so far has been proven right. Many student athletes have been accepted into better schools than the student. I believe it to be safe to say that overall an athlete is more succesfull academically and socialy. but dnt take it wrong if your not an athlete.

Chelsea- that one girl everyone hates because she is so smart

Teacher: Get in the classroom! If the bell rings your late and your getting a referral!

(students shuffling in)

Teacher: Ok settle down. Get your books out and turn to page 303. Pass your summaries up to the front. Who didn’t do their assignment?

Jimmy (the baseball player) raises his hand

Teacher: You didn’t need to raise your hand; I figured most jocks wouldn’t do the assignment anyways.

Jimmy: But Miss I just wanted to ask what page you wanted us to open our book to. I have the assignment right here.

Teacher: ok well turn to page 303. Who wants to read?

Jimmy, tommy and alex raise their hands.

Teacher: We need someone who can read quickly, Alex why don’t you read?

Alex goes on to read 2 pages and is then stopped by Ms. Artinez

Teacher:  Chelsea, why don’t you go ahead and read

Chelsea: im sorry Ms. I have a sore throat and can barely talk

Teacher: Well since nobody else wants to participate. Tommy go ahead and read.

Tommy begins to read and after a brief pause, the teacher stops him and begins to read herself.

Tommy: why didn’t you let me continue Ms?

Teacher: We don’t want to be here forever.

Tommy: Are you serious? Why did you let Alex read for so long without you stopping her, I read faster then her I just needed to catch a breath?

Teacher: Do you even know what we are reading about? I mean all you athletes are the same, you guys try to act like good students, but all your doing Is annoying everyone else. You guys need..

Jimmy:  I have a 3.5 so I wouldn’t know what your talking about, I think that’s better than half these nerds in here.

Tommy: as a matter a fact, we are reading about how atoms are the basic building blocks of ordinary matter, And how an atom has an electron cloud consisting of negatively charged electrons surrounding a dense nucleus.

Teacher: wow that’s a first, did you and your team come up with that on your own? Or did you just read it from your cheat sheet?

help

today i attended a class on the bible which opened my eyes to the possibility of changing my research topic. I intend to go into depth on the bible and its misinterpretations by many religious denominations . Such a topic can be narrowed down to ..is there a hell? or eternal damnation? why or why not? for a subject like this however i will have to do very intense research. What do u think about my potentially new research subject??

J20

J20 is a 20 year old La Salle high school graduate. She has lived in Miami Florida her entire life. Growing up as a homeschooled girl from kindergarten to 8th grade was not easy for her. The thought of it at first was lovely she says, “I didn’t have to wake up as early as everyone else did, I just woke up and I was at school”. But it wasn’t so fun after realizing everything she was missing out on by staying at home all day. Playing sports such as soccer, basketball and Track in her Brickell neighborhood “helped her learn how to make friends and open up socially”. With 3 younger brothers, J20 felt that she had it the hardest. Her parents were very strict on her. She says her brothers have it a lot easier. However, she feels she has a close relationship her brothers. Her 17 year brother is autistic but fun. Since her 15 year old brother has the same rules as J20, although she is almost four years older, she invites him to go out with her on some weekends. She also has a 13 year old brother, but he is still too young to go out with her. J20 has worked as a motivator to her 15 year old brother who runs track as well. She is his coach and trains him hard. She enjoys activities such as watching horse races, and also riding horses. When asked how she went from soccer, basketball and track, to Horse racing, she simply said “my dad got me into it”. Another hobby of j20 is going out with her friends. However, after many fights with her best friend from kindergarten, she decided to call it quits. But that was not the end of friendships. After being hired at Publix, she met some people who became friends with her, including her 27 year old manager. After attending a Publix employee party, she became close friends and eventually started dating her manager. They have been going out happily for almost 4 months.

Topic.
Student Athletes have been targeted with sterotipical comments for decades. The classic “Dumb Jock Syndrom” has surrounded athletes from middle school to high school. Many reasons support and negate this claim. Student athletes  are more interested in their sport then in school. However, this does not mean that they completely ignore their academics. I will try to prove that the student athlete is more successful in and out of the classroom. I believe that the diciplin given to athletes ,by coaches, and parents or anyone who supports them, makes athletes more capable of staying in tune with their academics and sport. Athletes realize that playing sports carries risks, some greater than others.  A student athlete knows that if any longterm injury happens to them, what they did in school is what is going to be able to move them towards success. Although some athletes chose to skip school and go straight to the Big’s, most often choose to graduate college with a backup plan. For example, a sports administration degree, or buisness degree. I will prove that athletes contradict that common stereotype. I believe that the stere otype of athletes is based on the Idea that athletes make a lot more money for “doing something that doesn’t require much intellectual involvment”. Jealousy is the reason behind this common idea.

today i explored my topic a little more in depth...i began to really analyze my subject... i figured it might be a little to broad.. i think that maybe i should describe what overall success means to athletes .I was hoping maybe some teachers may be able to describe the differences in goals between the athlete and the non athlete....

Nelsons Reaction

Research papers can do alot for and against a student. For example sometimes when you as a student can connect yourself to the topic, a research paper can be a great way to widen your knowledge on the subject. Last year i had a research paper assigned on the movie American History X. I had loved the book and watched the movie a good 12 times. When i was asked to research the question, if psychological and social change is possible in a person?,i immediately was attracted to the topic so i poured all my time on to it. But then again most topics that are assigned are not very attractive to the common student. Making most research papers just a complete time eater.
