Topic.
Student Athletes have been targeted with sterotipical comments for decades. The classic “Dumb Jock Syndrom” has surrounded athletes from middle school to high school. Many reasons support and negate this claim. Student athletes are more interested in their sport then in school. However, this does not mean that they completely ignore their academics. I will try to prove that the student athlete is more successful in and out of the classroom. I believe that the diciplin given to athletes ,by coaches, and parents or anyone who supports them, makes athletes more capable of staying in tune with their academics and sport. Athletes realize that playing sports carries risks, some greater than others. A student athlete knows that if any longterm injury happens to them, what they did in school is what is going to be able to move them towards success. Although some athletes chose to skip school and go straight to the Big’s, most often choose to graduate college with a backup plan. For example, a sports administration degree, or buisness degree. I will prove that athletes contradict that common stereotype. I believe that the stereotype of athletes is based on the Idea that athletes make a lot more money for “doing something that doesn’t require much intellectual involvment”. Jealousy is the reason behind this common idea.

today i explored my topic a little more in depth...i began to really analyze my subject... i figured it might be a little to broad.. i think that maybe i should describe what overall success means to athletes .I was hoping maybe some teachers may be able to describe the differences in goals between the athlete and the non athlete....

Nelsons Reaction
Research papers can do alot for and against a student. For example sometimes when you as a student can connect yourself to the topic, a research paper can be a great way to widen your knowledge on the subject. Last year i had a research paper assigned on the movie American History X. I had loved the book and watched the movie a good 12 times. When i was asked to research the question, if psychological and social change is possible in a person?,i immediately was attracted to the topic so i poured all my time on to it. But then again most topics that are assigned are not very attractive to the common student. Making most research papers just a complete time eater.
