help

today i attended a class on the bible which opened my eyes to the possibility of changing my research topic. I intend to go into depth on the bible and its misinterpretations by many religious denominations . Such a topic can be narrowed down to ..is there a hell? or eternal damnation? why or why not? for a subject like this however i will have to do very intense research. What do u think about my potentially new research subject??

  1. Is that something you could really answer in the relatively little bit of time we have left for this project? Each religion is going to tell you something different and how other religions are wrong.

Its a very interesting topic, but its something theologians have been looking to answer for centuries, so just think how much you can do in such a short period of time.

  2. Right on, Kathryn! CB: stick to your orignal topic. It's much more doable, and you're already five weeks into it. Plus, it's pretty interesting.

  3. I agree with Kathryn and Dvorak, plus I'm a Religious Studies major as well and I recently attended a confrence just on the topic of salvation between Islamic, Christian, and Judaic religions and their statements were brief since religion has many sub-topic like: hell and heaven, salvation, who goes to hell, who get saved, how to worship, how to live, moral laws, and many others.(Just gave myself a headache thinking about how broad religion is).

If you di want to switch, I advise that you narrow it even more, for example, what does religion say about forgiveness vs. what society teaches people to do; or even narrower. But your current topic is a good one and it is interesting, especially since I was an athelete in high school [sigh, :_( I miss those days]
